Thanks for stopping by! We were a family of three, until we added one more (cat, that is), making us a family of four. In 2012, we added four more...one husband, two girls, and a dog. We have a full plate as a party of eight!

Adoption, blended families, pets, school, running...it's all here. Pull up a chair and read a while. After you do, please leave a little comment love! It makes me happy...and y'all know...if Momma is happy, then everyone is happy...at least at our house!

Looks Can Be Deceiving!

See these three?

Hannah Cat, the first four-legged resident of our house

Screamer, the second four-legged resident...

Cookie, the newest four-legged resident...

Well I'm here to tell you...they might look sweet and innocent...

But they're NOT!!

Hannah Cat torments Screamer who torments Cookie.

And they all torment the humans in the wee hours of the morning.

This morning, at 3:30, is a prime example...

Hannah Cat has decided over the last three days that she needs to jump up on my bedside table.  Problem is...there isn't room for her up there and she knocks everything over.  Lamp, books, clock, cell phone, regular telephone (yes, I still have one of those!)...it all goes.  And it makes noise.  A LOT of noise.  Which startles me out of a sound sleep.  So at 3:30 a.m., that's what happened...with a crash, a bang, a boom, and possible a few choice words (not from the cat).

She was banished from the room and Cookie, who NEVER gets up in the middle of the night no matter what cat shenanigans are going on, left the bedroom with her.  Screamer came in, but he was quiet and sounded like he was content and going back to sleep.  His little half meow/half purr, chirpy sounds are sweet.

Notice I said he WAS quiet.
Because at 3:47, he decided to start  pawing at a box that contains our new curtain rod.
Paw, paw, paw...chirp, chirp, chirp...paw, paw, paw...louder meows...paw, paw, paw...

What to do!?!?
Why, put Screamer in the downstairs bathroom and put Hannah Cat in the closet and hope Cookie will return to her bed...of course!

Ha!  Easier said then done.

There was some falling down the stairs followed by the discovery of a wet spot Cookie had created on the carpet.

There may have been some bribery with food involved.

But all of the creatures were finally rounded up, closed up, and eventually quiet.

Well, all of the creatures of the four-legged kind.  By this point, the child was awake and defending her beloved Screamer and the adults were super frazzled and ready for a few more hours of uninterrupted sleep.

Ah the joys of having pets...

Whirlwind Weekend

OK, I admit it...I've been a bad blogger for the past month.  I've probably lost the few readers I had as a result.  :(

But cleaning out closets and cabinets and underneath beds, discarding unwanted and unused items, and moving just didn't seem very blog worthy.

Neither did giving EOGs, EOG make-ups, and EOG retests.

Or being sick.

But let me tell you about the whirlwind of a weekend we just had.  My head is still spinning!

The itinerary was something like this:

Friday
5:15 p.m.  depart from work and drive half way to Memphis
11:00 p.m. arrive at halfway point and check into hotel; sleep

Saturday
9:00 a.m.  depart hotel to drive the second half of the drive to Memphis
11:30 a.m.  stop at favorite grocery store in Nashville for lunches (and doughnuts)
2:30 p.m.  arrive in Memphis, realize you are not allowed at your mom's house yet because she is having a party during her 50th high school reunion weekend, and decide to play tourist since this is Brian's first time in Memphis
2:30-5:00 p.m.  Visit the Peabody to see the ducks, wander up and down Beale Street, walk past the Rondezvous restaurant
5:00 p.m.  arrive at Mom's house (since the party is over), visit for a little while before she and Dad leave for the reunion bash
6:00-10:00 p.m.  Visit with cousins, one of whom is doing our wedding in December, and go eat Memphis BBQ at Corky's
10:00-11:00 p.m. Visit with Mom and Dad, say good bye to Gloria for a week, leave for hotel
11:30 p.m  Crash in bed to sleep before a long drive home on Sunday

Sunday
10:00 a.m.  (11:00 a.m. at home)  Depart from hotel
10:30 p.m. arrive home after 11.5 hours of driving

So, to recap:
We were gone for approximately 53 hours.
Almost 24 of those hours were spent driving.
14-15 of those hours were spent sleeping.
8 hours were for sightseeing and visiting with family.
I can't account for the other 6 hours, so don't ask!
