Thanks for stopping by! We were a family of three, until we added one more (cat, that is), making us a family of four. In 2012, we added four more...one husband, two girls, and a dog. We have a full plate as a party of eight!

Adoption, blended families, pets, school, running...it's all here. Pull up a chair and read a while. After you do, please leave a little comment love! It makes me happy...and y'all know...if Momma is happy, then everyone is happy...at least at our house!

Vacation for Five, In Which There was Finally Water Play! And Free Chicken, Too...

Day four of our vacation for five didn't dawn bright and sunny like we were hoping.

Nope.
It was cloudy, grey, and a bit cool...
and threatening rain.

And there were three girls who desperately wanted to go to the pool...
and the rock slide...
and the paddle boats...
and the canoes...

And there were two parents who knew we were going to have to give in...
and hope the rain held off!

So we did.
And it did.

We were almost the only ones at the pool.  For a while, the girls were the only ones IN the pool.  By all reports, the water was cold.

Then it was off to the rock slide...
Three of us braved it...
G and M at the top of the second slide
Here comes M...
With G to follow...
And even though you can't really see him...Brian came down too.
Two of us chose not to participate in this event...
The other M
Me, with my sunburned nose, keeping all the towels dry  :)
(Don't judge.  This picture is just to prove I was really there.  Remember, I was sick the day before...)

After heading back to the pool for a while and some lunch, it was time to head out on the lake...

These three ventured out on a paddle boat...

While Glo and I paddled out in a canoe...

I don't think I've paddled a canoe since my days as a camper at Lazy W and Camp Desoto!!  But I did pretty well.

Then we switched a passenger...

G joined Brian and M in the paddle boat while M joined me in the canoe...

More swimming and play followed the boat rides until the sky turned black again and thunder caused the lifeguards to call everyone out of the water...

That was ok though.
We had big plans.
It was time to dress like a cow and drive 40 minutes to the closest chicken eatin' place...

Mooooo!
(I'm so gonna' get in trouble for posting this one!!)

We had a tween cow, a speedy cow, and a giggly cow with us that evening...

It was a fun evening, capped off with a quick trip to Publix where we bought doughnuts for Saturday morning breakfast.  Because you know...we were on vacation...doughnuts for breakfast are ok on vacation...

Saturday was also a repeat of day one...in which we packed three children, two adults, and a dog and all of the various and sundry items required by said children, adults, and dog BACK into the Camry that is NOT a family of five plus dog kind of car and returned home....
